Delete your account

You can delete your ScanMyRock account, and everything stored against it, from inside the app at any time and without giving a reason. This page explains how, what gets deleted, and what we keep.

How to delete your account

  1. Open the Profile tab in the app.
  2. Tap Delete account.
  3. Read the list of what is about to go, then tap Delete permanently.

That is the whole process. There is nothing to wait for and nobody to ask: by the time the confirmation appears on screen, the account and its contents are already gone.

If you cannot reach the app, or have lost access to the account itself, email [email protected] with the subject Delete my account and we will do it for you. We will establish that the account is yours before deleting anything. This is a fallback, not the main route.

If you never added an email address, your account is anonymous: it holds no name, no address and nothing else that could connect it to you or to a message from you. There is no way for us to find it on request, and the in-app option appears only once an account exists. Adding an email in the Profile tab is what makes deletion possible.

Deletion is immediate and permanent. A copy may survive a little longer inside encrypted backups until those age out on our hosting provider's own schedule. Nothing is ever restored from a backup except to recover the whole service after a failure.

What is deleted

All of the following are erased permanently and cannot be recovered:

What is kept, and for how long

Deleting some of your data, but keeping your account

You do not have to close your account to remove things from it.

Deleting the app is not deleting your account

Removing ScanMyRock from your device stops it collecting anything further, but the account and its data stay on our servers until you delete them from the Profile tab, or until the account is dormant long enough to be removed under the retention terms in our Privacy Policy.
